Hari Raya Adilfitri

Hari Raya Adilfitri is a main celebration for all Muslim, it is also known as Hari Raya Puasa. Click on the history word, you can know more about the history of Hari Raya Adilfitri. History. Before Hari Raya Adilfitri, there is a fasting month. Fasting month is for all the Muslim to feel grateful to the thing that they have now and put themselves to the same situation with the poor people so that they will satisfied with their life. Besides, fasting is good for health because they believe that fasting can let all the organ in our body to rest.

Ramadan

It is one month of fasting period for the Malays where they fast for at least 12hours per day before celebrating Hari Raya. During this period, Muslim are forbidden to smoke, having sexual relationship, lied, cheat and breaking promises beside drinking and eating. Only the sick are forgiven for not fasting. The reason behind it is to practice self control and the submission to ‘Allah’.

Celebration

When the Ramadan start, the ladies will start to buy new cloths and curtain while the man will start to help clean the house. On the day of Hari Raya, the Muslim guys will went top the Mosque early in the morning with their news cloth while the ladies will pray at home. For female, they usually wear baju kurung and male wear baju melayu. It is to give thanks to ‘Allah’. After that, all Muslim will ask forgiveness from the elders and each other, visiting their relative according to the order to celebrate this happy occasion.

Food

All the Muslim people’s house will start preparing Ketupat, rendang, lemang, beef cooked with soy source, cake “lapis” before the day comes. This is all the traditional food that will normally be seen during the Hari Raya Adilfitri. When the Muslim having the open house, this is the food that serve the visitor.
